The big-serving left-hander worked his way back into Top 100 from No. 364 in January with outstanding Challenger results, compiling a 45-9 match record and winning five of seven titles. Had records of 35-7 on hard, 5-0 on carpet and 5-2 on grass. Also 23-9 in TB sets...

His lone tour level tournament came at Wimbledon where he qualified and beat Benneteau (l. to Federer). Also played in Davis Cup tie vs Morocco and won both matches...

In February, reached final at Astana Challenger (l. to Golubev) and following month won title in Guadalajara (d. Kudla). In three week stretch in late April-May, won consecutive Asian titles in Shenzhen (d. Lacko), Taipei (d. JP Smith) and Gimcheon (d. Ito)...

In July reached final in Portoroz (l. to Kavcic) and followed with title in Recanati (d. Bozoljac) on July 20, which was his last tournament going into US Open...
